Soccer Streets Staff Participates in Mentor Training
Soccer In The Streets national staff members recently took part in "The Art of
Mentoring: Lessons from 40 Years of Mentoring Children." The conference, sponsored by the The Roberto C.
Goizueta Mentoring Institute (a division of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, Inc.), was designed to
teach the components of successful mentoring and develop partnerships that empower organizations to serve the
children in their communities.
The building blocks of the institute -- TOGETHER WE CAN LEARN AND TOGETHER WE CAN PARTNER
-- provide focus for providing quality programming to youth. Topics during this conference included elements
of mentoring such as "Starting and Strengthening a Mentoring Program", "Team Building with Youths",
"Cultural Diversity" and "Targeted Volunteer Recruitment". The Mentoring Institute also
provides a wide range of services that lead to creating a beneficial partnership between programs like Soccer Streets
and the community.
Collaborative efforts of Soccer In The Streets and individuals and organizations dedicated
to the lives of children through mentoring will lead to further the goals of mentoring initiatives such as Soccer Streets
