Atlanta Hosts Teams From Seven States
To expose children to the "tournament experience" and showcase the unheralded
talent being nurtured through its programs, Soccer Streets is pleased to announce the 4th Annual Soccer Streets Cup on November
18, 2000.
New for 2000 is a name change. The Soccer Streets Cup will now be referred to as the "Soccer Streets
Heroes Cup" in recognition of the competitive division being added to this year's event. Teams from as
far as Houston, TX and Milwaukee, WI will be competing for the Soccer Streets Cup. It is hoped that such programs
will serve to inspire all Soccer Streets participants to strive for the highest level they can achieve, serving as
"heroes" to those who are just starting out. The competitive division will be comprised of Under 13
Boys teams.
The recreation division this year will include U8, U10, U12, U14 and U19 brackets.
Girls teams will compete in the U12 and U14 brackets. Unlike any other tournament, this competition is still
free to teams who enter.
The tournament location has also changed this year to accommodate the growing event.
Clayton County Lovejoy Soccer Complex, one of the top facilities in the Atlanta Metro area, features regulation
size soccer fields and other amenities, including ample parking.
"It's very exciting to see this event grow. Our mission to give the kids a great
soccer experience is being realized," said Jill Robbins, one of the organizers of the tournament.
