A new chapter was opened in the Soccer Streets saga when a new logo was recently unveiled. The newly introduced logo,
designed by Active Arts in Portland, OR, is one more step in the reorganization of Soccer Streets The collection of
graphics representing Soccer Streets programs and the P.O.S.I.T.I.V.E. CHOICE Program companion video will officially
debut during the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Convention in January 2001.
After the selection was made, Executive Director Albert Stokes commented that "the
process of developing the logo, while tedious and challenging, was well worth it. The current design leaves
no doubt as to what the Soccer Streets mission is."
The video, which began production in June 2000, is in the final stages of completion
and will be available for distribution by the first of the year. Stokes added, "The video will undoubtedly
enhance our P.O.S.I.T.I.V.E. CHOICE Mentoring Program. While progress has been somewhat slower than anticipated,
Soccer Streets remains focused in making the video a priority." The video features segments with former U.S.
National Team member Desmond Armstrong and current U.S. National Team members Cobi Jones and Richie Williams.
Also featured are female stars Michelle Akers and Briana Scurry.
Stokes also noted that "Soccer Streets Board and Staff are committed to making a difference
in the lives of the youth we serve and would like to thank all of the individuals who are helping to make the
P.O.S.I.T.I.V.E. CHOICE video a reality. In addition, Soccer Streets would like to extend a very sincere thanks to
Active Arts for their diligent work in developing the logo at no cost to Soccer In The Streets."
