Programs and people making news in 2000
Again this summer Soccer Streets programs have attracted interest from media editors around the country. This reflects
the increasing level of interest in soccer and the importance of what Soccer Streets is doing. Recent coverage includes:
- National television recognition for one of Soccer Streets' oldest and most successful programs - New Brunswick,
NJ. Program Director Mike Blackwell and his Soccer Streets kids were featured on the TV show "In The Mix"
which is syndicated nationally by PBS.
- A fully illustrated story about Soccer Streets' newest chapter in Richmond, VA. The program is run by the Richmond
Kickers of the United Soccer League(USL). The story was published in Neighborhood Sports, a regional sports
magazine.
- Essence Magazine - The #1 selling African-American publication wrote a piece welcoming Albert Stokes to
his new role of Executive Director of Soccer Streets Those of us who have not yet personally spoken to Albert add
our best wishes!
